About Me And My Weight Gain Story
This is my personal weight gain story on how I transformed my physique from weak and skinny to strong and muscular in a matter of months. If you are interested in who I am and why you should consider taking the advice I write on this site, then please read on. My name is Julien and I live in Perth, Western Australia. Up until recently I was your typical skinny guy. I was good at sport and played football for years, but my thin physique would always hold me back. As a teenager I was quite self conscious about being too skinny, and this affected a lot of different areas of life. Back then I wished I was bigger and stronger, and with more self confidence. So one day I decided that it was time to stop thinking about it and go out and do something about it. I began trying to eat more with the aim of gaining some weight. I ate and ate, but it didn't seem to be working. But then I realized why. My problem was this: my body type is known as an ectomorph. Being an ectomorph means you are naturally thin and have a high metabolism so it's very hard to put on weight. In other words I found out I was what you called a "hard gainer". I might have thought I was eating enough to gain weight, but I simply wasn't. I started researched weight training as I knew this was a great way to bulk up. For about a year I occasionally read stuff about gaining weight and building muscle, but different people recommended different things and some of the information I read contradicted each other. I was quite confused. Then one day I luckily stumbled across MuscleGainTruth.com. The site's author, Sean Nalewanyj, is a world-renown bodybuilding and fitness author who had accomplished what I was trying to do. He was once skinny, and he managed to pack on a lot of muscle mass. His own personal weight gain story was inspirational, and I could relate to him so I figured I would give it a go. Update - 24th September 2009: Currently weighing in at 216lbs (98kg). Update - 14th October 2009: Currently weighing in at 100kg, which was my goal for bulking. Today I started my new fat loss phase where I aim to cut down my body fat percentage to under 12% within the next 6 months.

Update - 12 February 2010: It has been almost 4 months now since I started cutting down my excess fat. I started at around 23-24% as my body fat percentage, and now it reads as approximately 17%! I'm making steady progress week by week, and Sean's advice in his latest fat loss book has formed the basis of my day to day routine.

Update - 29 June 2010: It took roughly 8 months, but finally I have achieved my goal of 12% body fat, whilst maintaining as much muscle mass as I could! I feel great, and now it's time to start bulking again. I am now at 76kg, and will bulk as clean as possible this time so that I gain more muscle mass but without too much extra fat, so that when I start my next cutting phase I won't have as much fat to burn off as last time.
